WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?

June 19 What are you watching

Today over half of all children between the ages of nine and seventeen have Internet cable or satellite television access in their bedrooms. The old image of the family gathered around a single TV set in the living room is almost non-existent. Instead, the kids are off by themselves where they can choose anything they want to see.

Indeed, almost everyone, including the youth, has access to everything on the Internet through their hand-held device like an Android tablet or an iPhone. One prominent social researcher put it this way: ‘Almost everything children are seeing is essentially going into their minds in some sort of uncensored or unfiltered way.’

Under the ‘freedom of expression’ rule, the government and the courts permit cable and Internet to peddle explicit sex, violence, nudity and profanity to everyone, including the young.

Are you concerned?

You should be!

Why do sheep need a shepherd?

For the same reason that children and the youth need loving and observant parents and teachers—there are wolves! Ignorance of technology is no defence!

Just because technology is new, you shouldn’t be ignorant of the fact that it can bring on the evils of addiction for anyone, yourself included. Be careful with what you are watching.

After his disastrous affair with Bathsheba and the heartache and havoc it brought to his family, David said, ‘…I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set nothing wicked before my eyes…’ (vv. 2-3 NKJV).

How about you, what are you watching?

‘I will set nothing wicked before my eyes…’  Psalms 101:3 NKJV

ENCOURAGEMENT 4 TODAY

Psalm 27:4, 7-9, 11, 13-14; Hebrews 11:6

One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord & to inquire in his temple.

Hear, o Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me & answer me! You have said, “Seek my face!” my heart says to you, “your face, Lord, do I seek!” hide not your face from me!

Teach me your way, o Lord, & lead me on a level path!

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, & let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! For the rewards those who diligently seek him!

(Seek him today! never delay!)
